1995

1995 1st round of the Malaysia-Singapore Match was played at Malaysia, Malaysia won 36-24. The popularity of this match was such that in 1995, there were even two matches played. The second such match in 1995 was played in Singapore and it was won by the Singaporeans with a very close 30 1/2-29 1/2 result.



1995 The first issue of Majalah Catur (Chess Magazine) was published on January 1995. The following issues came out monthly after that but stop after the 6th issue. The only officially sanctioned magazine that was ever published by the Malaysian Chess Federation was the Catur Magazine. Unfortunately, only two issues were produced and these were in the late 1970s (what year?).






1995 Ooi Chern Ee surprised many people by coming third in the 1995 MSSM Sportsboy ceremony.

1995 Mas Hafizulhelmi won the National Closed Championship and Khairunnisa Wahiduddin won the Women Category  

1995 1995 Interzonal Tournaments were held in in Genting Highlands, Malaysia.

1995 Mas Hafizulhelmi was awarded the FIDE Master (FM) title for remarkable result at the 1995 Interzonal Tournaments in Genting Highlands, Malaysia.
1995 Arab Malaysian Bank start sponsoring The Labour day tournament. Arab Malaysia Bank revived the tournaments after a lapse of three years because there was no sponsorship.

1995 Asia-Life Asia Insurance which has been sponsoring The National Age Group Championship for the past 10 years decided not to renew its contribution.
